The season ahead

With the new season only a matter of weeks away now, manchester united fans all over the world wait in anticipation of how new players such as Michael Owen, Antonio Valencia will fit in to the already talented squad, also fans wait and see if there is another year left in the United stalwarts such as Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes.

The first ballots for tickets have opened for the away games against newcomers Burnley and also premiership team Wigan Athletic. With plenty of fans expected this year ticketing for Manchester United will once again be tough with the hope of ballots going your way.

There doesnt seem to be a clear title favourite this year with none of Manchester Uniteds rivals such as Chelsea, Liverpool or Arsenal spending big, the big movers this year seem to be Manchester City, bringing in such names as Emmanuel Adebeyour and Man United ex fans favourite Carlos Tevez, although in many expert circles Manchester City are still a long way off challenging the dominance of their city neighbours and premiership champions Manchester United.

Todays news and gossip

Since Ferie announced that there would be no new signings the papers have gone quiet about new players being linked with the club, so instead they have turned to speculation on the Michael Owen and Federico Macheda partnership, and how succesful they will be.

In other news Berbatov has given an interview saying that he can score more goals for United and raise his level of play, and to be honest he needs to after a very lacklustre season.

Todays transfer gossip!

Nothing much of note on the horizon, United have again been linked with David Villa and Douglas Costa but no direct quotes and with United's insistence that no more players will be brought in I would'nt hold your breath.

Pretty Apt Poster

Photoshop experts have doctored Manchester City's embarrasing efforts to annoy Manchester United fans with a much more apt design.

What do you think?!

Winning start to Asian Tour

Manchester United won the opening game of their Asian Tour, but they had to raise their game to see off the Malaysian National side 3-2.

Wayne Rooney opened the scoring for United and Luis Nani doubled the lead shortly after. However the Malaysian's didnt lie down and rallied hard to level the game at 2-2. New signing Michael Owen came off the bench late on to win the game for United 3-2. If he can do that at the Kop end at Liverpool all may well be forgiven!

Manchester United Squad for Asia tour

United have now travelled to Asia, and the squad for the trip is as follows :-

Edwin van der Sar, Tomasz Kuszczak, Ben Foster; Jonny Evans, Patrice Evra, Rio Ferdinand, Gary Neville, Wes Brown, John O’Shea, Fabio da Silva; Nani, Zoran Tosic, Darren Fletcher, Anderson, Darron Gibson, Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick, Ryan Giggs; Michael Owen, Dimitar Berbatov, Federico Macheda, Wayne Rooney.

Which means no place for new signings Gabriel Obertan and Antonio Valencia, Nemanja Vidic and Ji Sung Park also appear not to have travelled.

Glazer finances finally showing?

Today Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson told a press conference that there will be no new signings at Old Trafford.

With £80 million banked from the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo, plus the sales of Lee Martin and Frazier Campbell and the annual £25million war chest promised by the Glazers, Fergie should have more than £110 million to spend, instead he has had to sign Michael Owen on a free transfer from Newcastle.

United look seriously short of genuine match winning quality, and but for the Glazers would be able to sign a raft of players.

A Frustrating Summer?!

After the highs of last season, the summer transfer window has been a frustrating time for many reds. Firstly we saw Cristiano Ronaldo depart, swiftly followed by Carlos Tevez. In their place Antonio Valencia has come in from Wigan and Michael Owen has arrived from Newcastle on a free transfer.

United have been constantly linked in all media outlets with a range of players from Douglas Costa to Sergio Aguero but as yet no marquee signing has arrived at the club.

The question is will we see anymore players arriving at the club?
